The Class to Playground Connection: Strategies to Support a Positive School Culture

How do we help our students connect SEL strategies learned in the classroom to real, everyday life? What supports do they have to practice conflict resolution when they are out of the classroom? Recess, and less structured times such as Lunch and Snack typically when conflict happens and students are in a position where they must actually apply the emotional regulation and leadership skills that they are learning about through SEL curricula. We’ll explore structures that can be integrated into your school community to support Social and Emotional Development for all students, such as Student Leadership and an intentional Recess Culture.
