Andrew Brannon and Keli Redd, Larchmont Charter School
This workshop aims to promote healthy classrooms through relationship building, a main competency of Social-Emotional Learning. In our time together, we will watch and learn how to foster community and value our students’ competence. Next, our participants will be presented with a text to examine on the topic of healthy and positive power exchanges, with emphasis on using the Circle as a strategy. To help interpret the reading, participants will use a reading protocol that can be used in the classroom. The workshop ends with sharing best practices amongst ourselves, those observed and tested in our own classrooms.
